Galileo Galilei one of the greatest italian thinkers, astronomer, mathematician, instrument maker, has been oppressed for his ideas, he ran in conflict with the Catholic Church of his days, and was put on trial for heresy by the Inquisition.
In honour of his IV centenary Palomar , an Italian based company that has been one of the leading traditional Florentine optic companies since 1956, commissioned me a project of 5 old Galilean instruments for children.
At the beginning I was really impatient to act, to start the project, but then I realized how Galilean instruments were complex and hard to “re-design” in a modern way, easy to understand from young.
So I jumped from Galilean instruments to Platonic solid, Euclidean geometry arrived to rescue me. “Kit for young Galilean” is a set of 5 Galilean paper instruments (is not include glue, but just magnets): optical telescope, solar clock, microscope, compass and sextant. Optical telescope is illustrated by Goran my wired friend!
